Façade Grant Program

In 2008, Mainstreet Shelbyville initiated a Façade Grant Program designed to assist downtown building owners with the exterior rehabilitation of their historic buildings in the Downtown Commercial District. This area is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and serves as the heart of the Shelbyville community. As such, restoring and preserving the historic integrity with materials and methods in line with the Secretary of Interior’s Standards for Historic Building Rehabilitation is a high priority for Mainstreet Shelbyville. The grant is dependent upon funding, but it is our goal to offer two grant cycles per year. Grants of up to $10,000 are awarded, and the grant must be matched on a 1:1 basis by the building owner.
